‘Safety First: Five-Year Report of the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness’ recommends that patients at risk of suicide, including all patients with a recent history of self-harm, who are treated with psychotropic drugs should receive modern, less toxic drugs and/or supplies lasting no more than 2 weeks.
Notes for: Antimuscarinic Drugs Used In Parkin'ismLast edited [15/08/2011 13:12:34]
1. Antimuscarinic drugs have a range of anticholinergic side effects associated with them. In addition, they may cause mental confusion. They should rarely be used in the management of Parkinson's disease - this caution applies particularly to the elderly patient.
2. Procyclidine is identified as a 'green' drug because of its place in the management of drug-induced parkinsonism, rather than as a first line treatment for Parkinson's disease.
